Hexa waterproof multi-way dog leads: tough and odour-resistant

Designed for adventure and demanding weather, Goofy Goldens Hexa multi-way leads combine waterproof performance with total versatility. Made from honeycomb-textured (Hexa) PVC webbing, these leads are completely waterproof, hold on to neither water nor smells, and wipe clean with a sponge after a muddy walk. Thanks to its multiple rings and sturdy clips, this 2.5 m adjustable lead can be set exactly as you need: cross-body for hands-free walking, short for town or long for more freedom. Ultra-durable kit, supple to the touch and made to withstand intense rubbing.

Waterproof multi-way dog lead: the Hexa model

Our original multi-way lead already comes in tough polyester. The Hexa version offers the same 5 configurations, but in a 100% waterproof soft PVC, designed for dogs that go out in all weathers: water, mud, sand or rain.

What makes the Hexa version different

Like the Hexa collar, this lead is made from soft PVC with an inner polyester lining, and is recognisable by its raised hexagonal textured coating, which improves grip even with wet hands. Unlike a classic polyester lead, it dries in minutes and holds on to neither damp nor smells.

Construction:

  • Soft PVC reinforced with polyester: resistant to wear, twisting and bad weather.
  • 2.5 cm wide, 250 cm total length at full extension.
  • Adjustable central ring, to suit the size of the dog or the human.
  • Reinforced metal clips that open easily with one hand.

The 5 configurations

As with our classic multi-way lead, the Hexa lead can be set to long (250 cm), medium (150 cm), short (120 cm, town mode), cross-body (hands-free) or double lead (two dogs at once). The difference lies in the material, not in the configurations themselves.

Care

A wipe with a damp sponge is enough to remove mud, sand or salt water, with no soaking or machine washing. PVC doesn't absorb dirt and dries quickly, unlike a fabric lead, which takes longer to get back to its original state after a wet outing.

What it's for

This version is especially suitable if your dog swims regularly, if you often switch between outings in town and in the countryside, or if you're looking for a single versatile lead rather than several models for different uses. It attaches to either a collar or a harness, and suits calm dogs and dogs that pull alike.

FAQ

Is this lead stiffer than a fabric lead? No, the soft PVC used stays flexible in your hand; it doesn't have the stiffness of cheap PVC.

Can it be used with a no-pull harness? Yes, it attaches to a collar just as well as to a harness, including our no-pull Y models.

What's the difference with the polyester multi-way lead? The configurations and dimensions are identical; only the material changes. Polyester is fine for occasional use in water, while Hexa PVC is designed for regular use in wet conditions.

How do I look after the clips so they keep working smoothly? Rinsing them in clean water after an outing in salty or muddy conditions is usually enough to prevent them from seizing up.

FAQ

Waterproof multi-way lead

Contact us
Which material is best for a lead?

Nylon or polyester: Light, tough and available in lots of colours. Be careful: it can burn your hands if your dog pulls suddenly.

Biothane and PVC: The look of leather with the toughness of plastic. Waterproof, it doesn't hold on to smells and wipes clean with a cloth.

Why choose a fixed lead rather than a retractable lead?

Dog trainers prefer a classic lead for several reasons:

  • Communication: It lets you send your dog clear signals with gentle pressure.
  • Safety: There's no mechanism that could jam or break.
  • Training: Your dog learns that the limit of their freedom is constant, which makes heelwork easier to learn.
What are the different ways to use a multi-way lead?

It's the Swiss Army knife of dog walking! You can use it in several ways:

  • Short (approx. 1.2 m): For heelwork in town or in busy places.
  • Medium (approx. 1.5 m): For a standard walk with a bit of freedom.
  • Long (approx. 2 to 2.5 m): Ideal for woodland walks or chilling out.
  • Hands-free: Clip it across your body or around your waist.
  • Double attachment: To walk two dogs at once, or to secure one dog on a harness (one attachment at the chest + one on the back).
What is a multi-way lead?

Unlike a classic fixed-length lead, a multi-way lead has several rings along its length and two clips (one at each end).
This lets you change the length of the lead in a flash, or switch how it attaches to suit your needs.

Are multi-way leads really useful?

Yes, they're the most versatile leads:
- quick to adjust,
- worn around the waist or over the shoulder,
- can walk two dogs at once, depending on the model,
- hands-free for running or walking.

They offer a great balance between freedom and control.

How do I care for a dog lead?
  • Nylon and polyester: wash in lukewarm water with mild soap.
  • PVC: just wipe with a damp sponge
Which lead is best for walks in town?

Town walks call for more control.
Short leads with a comfortable handle are the best fit.
They keep your dog close to you in busy places.

What's the difference between a classic lead and a multi-way lead?

- A classic lead keeps the same distance between you and your dog, which is good for training or for effective control
- A multi-way lead has several attachment points and can be worn around the waist or across the body, which is ideal for brisk walking or hands-free walks.
