Classic dog lead (150 cm): simple, strong and the right length

You don't necessarily need a multi-way lead for a classic walk: a simple fixed-length design is often the most practical for everyday use, in town or at the park. Our 150 cm classic lead is designed for exactly that, with a single attachment point and a comfortable grip. (To compare with our other formats, such as long, multi-way and waterproof leads, see our complete lead guide.)

Why choose a fixed length of 150 cm

It's a medium length: short enough to keep good control in town or in a busy area, long enough to give your dog room to move naturally while walking. It's the most versatile format for everyday use, with no need to adjust the length along the way as you would with a multi-way lead.

Features

  • Material: strong nylon that resists pulling and damp.
  • Padded handle: in neoprene or foam depending on the model, it reduces hand fatigue and absorbs some of the jolt if your dog suddenly pulls.
  • Clip: designed to withstand heavy use without losing its shape.
  • Care: easy to clean with water or a damp cloth; leave to air dry.

FAQ

Is 150 cm suitable for a small dog? Yes, this length suits all sizes of dog; it's mainly where you walk (town, park, countryside) that should guide your choice of length, not your dog's size.

What's the difference with a multi-way lead? A classic lead has a fixed length and a single attachment point, so it's simpler to use. A multi-way lead lets you change its length and configuration to suit the situation, at the cost of slightly more handling.

Does the padded handle really make a difference? Yes, especially on long walks or with a dog that pulls now and then: it reduces direct pressure on your hand compared with a plain nylon handle.

Can this lead be used with a no-pull harness? Yes, it works just as well with a collar as with a harness, including our Comfort Y models.

FAQ

Dog leads: frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Contact us
Which lead should I choose for my dog?

It depends on your dog's behaviour and the type of walk.
Classic leads suit most outings, while multi-way leads are really handy for different uses (town, off-lead walks, hands-free).

What's the difference between a classic lead and a multi-way lead?

- A classic lead keeps the same distance between you and your dog, which is good for training or for effective control
- A multi-way lead has several attachment points and can be worn around the waist or across the body, which is ideal for brisk walking or hands-free walks.

Which lead is best for a dog that pulls?

Dogs that pull do best with a lead that's:
- designed with a strong clip,
- fitted with a comfortable handle,
- made from a hard-wearing material,
- and ideally used with a no-pull harness.

Short leads give the best control.

Which lead should I choose for a puppy?

A light, supple, adjustable lead is ideal for the first walks.
This type of lead makes learning to walk on a lead easier and adapts as your puppy grows, without weighing them down.

Which lead is best for walks in town?

Town walks call for more control.
Short leads with a comfortable handle are the best fit.
They keep your dog close to you in busy places.

How do I care for a dog lead?
  • Nylon and polyester: wash in lukewarm water with mild soap.
  • PVC: just wipe with a damp sponge
Are multi-way leads really useful?

Yes, they're the most versatile leads:
- quick to adjust,
- worn around the waist or over the shoulder,
- can walk two dogs at once, depending on the model,
- hands-free for running or walking.

They offer a great balance between freedom and control.
